The City of Sandusky (pop. 2700) is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of DPW laborer.  The City of Sandusky is a vibrant community located in the Thumb of Michigan.  The position works under the general direction of the Director of Public Works and City Manager.  Qualified applicants for this skilled position will be responsible for installing, repairing and replacing water meters, valves, water mains, sanitary lines, road work, grass cutting, tree trimming and ability to respond to customer complaints and emergencies or any other duties assigned by management.  The applicant should have the ability to operate tools and equipment associated for the job.  Applicant must also possess a valid driver’s license with Class B w/ air brake endorsement, minimum of an S-4 and D-4 water treatment license or ability to obtain licenses and endorsement within 6 months.


Compensation per union contract (starting $13.72, after one year $15.44),  a competitive fringe benefits package that includes healthcare, pension, 457 plan, life insurance, sick days and vacation as provided by the AFSCME union contract
